Today, K-1 MAX was back in action, staging the Final 16 round of the 2013 K-1 World MAX Grand Prix. The two big names involved were former champions Buakaw Banchamek and Andy Souwer. As expected, both men won, though one had an easier time of it. Check out the full results below.

In the main event of the night, Andy Souwer took on Yasuhiro Kido. Souwer took the decision win, but it wasn’t the blow-out many expected, as Kido had his success. Souwer has been struggling a bit in recent fights, and this showed again that his time at the top is winding down.

Meanwhile, Buakaw absolutely ran through his overmatched opponent, winning via quick KO in 1 round. With that win, he has the be considered the heavy favorite to once again bring home the K-1 MAX crown.

In something of an upset, Henri Van Opstal lost a decision to Enriko Kehl. The other notable result was Shane Campbell looking great in his destruction of Wallace Lopez. I’ll be interested to see Campbell in the Final 8, and would love to see how he fares against a Souwer or Buakaw.
