UFC Fight Night 26 took place on August 17 from the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The stacked fight card was the UFC’s first event to be broadcast on Fox Sports 1. The main event of the night saw Chael Sonnen earn a first round submission victory over former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

The UFC brass seemed very pleased with the outcome of the event, handing out two more than the normal three Fight Night bonus awards. The promotion doubled up on Knockout of the Night, giving $50,000 each to Travis Browne and Matt Brown. Submission of the Night also saw two winners, with Sonnen and Michael McDonald taking home those checks. The coveted Fight of the Night went to McDonald and Brad Pickett.
