Old School MMA Review: UFC 6 – Tank’s debut & Taktarov overrated?

The octagon beckons once more, as The Fight Nerd and Zane Simon continue their arduous journey through the SEG UFC era, this time hitting Casper, Wyoming, for UFC 6: Clash of The Titans.

In this episode, we run down the heaviest eight-man tournament to date which includes the debuts of Cal Worsham, Dave Benetau, Paul Varelans, and a little guy named D.L. Tank Abbott. Plus, we look at the crowning of the first UFC Superfight champion, as Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn battle for the belt! All this plus the continuing legends of Andy Anderson and Pat Smith, Trap fighting, Pit fighting, and if “The Russian Bear” Oleg Taktarov was overrated.

Speaking of, that is our poll question for this week. After re-watching UFC 6 and our video, do you feel that Oleg Taktarov was an overrated fighter, or was his legacy justified? Vote in the poll and let us know what you think!

Don’t forget to check out Zane’s UFC 6 Redux for more info on the fighters at this event, and support the official DVD release of UFC 6 in hopes that they will keep putting these out on DVD!
