Dana White wants Wanderlei Silva vs Chael Sonnen as UFC 167 co-main event

After disposing of Mauricio Rua at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Silva, Chael Sonnen cut another one of his “promos” consisting of recycled old pro wrestling lines. The main focus of the interview was to have challenge Wanderlei Silva to a fight, concluding his rant with “Wanderlei Silva, six feet tall and 205 pounds, boy, until I met you, I didn’t know they could stack crap that high.” (Okay, so that one was a movie, not wrestling ripoff)

While there’s been some run-around with Silva possibly not being healthy as well as Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort both challenging Sonnen, now the UFC on Fox Twitter account is confirming that the goal for the promotion is still Sonnen/Silva:

Sonnen has moved up to 205 while Silva had been fighting at 185 until March of this year when he knocked out Brian Stann in his return to light heavyweight.

The general feeling among fans and media seems to be that Sonnen’s wrestling will be too much for the 37 year old Brazilian, but it’s a fight that Sonnen has been hyping for quite some time.

UFC 167 would also become an even bigger event as it’s already scheduled to be headlined by Georges St. Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks and there are plans to also add Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald to the card.
