UFC Fight Night 26 results: Michael McDonald makes Brad Pickett tap in round 2

In the final bout of the UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen preliminary broadcast on FS1, former Bantamweight contender Michael McDonald stepped into the Octagon for the first time since losing to Interim champ Renan Barao. British 135er Brad Pickett met him in the cage.

It took no time at all for these two to get to it. In only the second exchange, McDonald wobbled picket with a powerful combo. “One Punch” tried to back out, but “Mayday” followed and landed another series of blows. They separated when McDonald wasn’t able to get the finish, then he landed another punch that dropped Pickett. Brad was able to survive and McDonald started showing signs of slowing later in the round. Pickett cannot get inside and McDonald landed another dozen blows in the last 15 seconds. Incredible that Pickett was still standing.

McDonald landed some solid shots to start the second round before giving up a takedown. Mayday didn’t show a lot from his guardat first as he looked more to lock down than escape or submit. However, when he saw the opening, he capitalized with a triangle/armbar attempt. Pickett was able to fend off the armbar, but finally succumbed to the triangle.

Michael McDonald submitted Brad Pickett with a triangle choke at 3:43 of round 2.
