RFA 9 featured a number of exciting prospects and experienced veterans. Flashy submissions were hit, flying knees were thrown and a few serious beatings were handed out. Check out all the nights results and gifs courtesy of our own Zombie Prophet.

Matt Manzanares def. Steve Swanson via sub. (armbar) at 3:37 of Round 2.
In the night’s opening AXS TV bout Matt Manzanares defeated Steve Swanson. Manzanares took a couple hard shots in the second round. Swanson caught a kick and dumped him looking for some ground and pound but left his arm behind and got caught in a slick armbar because of it.
Alan Jouban def. Chris Spang via TKO (Punches) at 1:23 of Round 3
Recent UFC release Chris Spang’s quest to get back on track hit a major speed bump in the form of Alan Jouban. The two traded rounds with Spang starting strong and fading down the stretch. He looked to regain the action in the third but Jouban found some untapped reserves to get a fantastic late stoppage. Really great showing for Jouban.
Steve Mocco def. Lew Polly via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Steve Mocco ground Polly into dust with a lot of top control and a couple nice suplexes.
Brian Ortega def. Jordan Rinaldi via Sub. (Triangle Choke) at 2:29 of Round 3
Brian Ortega came out looking to make a statement against Jordan Rinaldi and he definitely succeed. In the opening round he hit a gorgeous flying knee the Rinaldi took right on the jaw.
After a competitive second round Rinaldi hit a take down off a slip and looked to land some ground and pound. Unfortunately for him he ended up on the receiving end of a number of sharp elbows and a gorgeous triangle for an Ortega submission victory.
Kevin Casey def. Casey Ryan via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Casey stifled Casey for three rounds to get back on track coming off his UFC release. The fight was largely actionless, and a disappointing showing from Casey Ryan. He did hit a nice armbar attempt in the closing minute of the fight however.
Pedro Munhoz def. Jeff Curran via Split Decision (47-48, 49-46, 50-45)
By the end of the night the mat was a slippery mess and made the headlining title fight a near impossible affair. It was still competitive however with a lot of fun technique and a clear decision victory from the young prospect Munhoz (even if it was somehow miraculously called a split). Munhoz is the new RFA bantamweight champion.
After a back and forth first round Munhoz looked for the early finish with a surprising ankle lock attempt from top control:
After a close second round Munhoz opened the third with a big slam on Curran.
Despite getting generally outpointed Curran hit a nice jumping knee in the fourth.
A nice combination from Munhoz pressing forward.
