UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo smelled blood, and he attacked. After winning the first three rounds against challenger Chan Sung Jung, the challenger’s shoulder popped after he landed a punch in the fourth. Aldo noticed, started kicking the shoulder, and finished him off via TKO. It was an unfortunate way for the Korean Zombie to go out, but Aldo was controlling the fight either way. The finish came at 2:00 of the fourth round.
Both men were a tad cautious off the start, which is a bit unusual. Aldo was the one that connected first with a nice combination. The two men spent a ton of time just feeling each other out. Aldo finally landed a solid kick about three minutes in. Aldo scored with a quick takedown right after stuffing a Zombie attempt. It was just for a second though. Aldo closed with a spinning wheel kick and a flying knee.
Jung came out with more pressure in round two, but Aldo landed some nice counters. Aldo ripped to the body then went to the head. The pace slowed again, but it was the champ landing the punches. Jung scored with a winging right, but Aldo immediately got a takedown. Junior rode out the round on top.
Zombie tried to throw a flying knee early in the third stanza but Aldo just threw him to the mat. They jockeyed for position on the ground against the cage for a while, with Aldo controlling the challenger’s posture. After a bunch of warnings, the ref finally stoood them up. Zombie immediately came forward with some bombs, and the champ responded. Aldo went right back to looking for a takedown. They stalled out again and got restarted again. Zombie attacked again at the bell.
Jung was winging again early in round four and he landed a couple. Aldo returned fire with a jab. It looked like Jung’s shoulder popped out after he threw a punch, which was plainly obvious. Aldo attacked it immediately and Zombie went down. He tried to defend, but his arm was toast and Aldo pounded him out.
