The UFC dominates the month of August with 4 UFC events, including 3 Saturday shows on August 3rd, 17th, and 31st. To bridge that gap between UFC 163 and the Fox Sports 1: Shogun vs. Sonnen show, World Series of Fighting will take place on August 10th.
Kickboxing star Tyrone Spong (1-0 MMA) was supposed to fight Angel DeAnda (11-2) at WSOF 3 in June, but Visa problems prevented him from fighting on the card. The fight has not only been re-booked, but it’s the main event for WSOF 4. In addition to Spong, WSOF president Ray Sefo returns to MMA fighting for one night as he faces Dave Huckaba. Former UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin makes his WSOF debut against Gesias Cavalcante.
This card also features surging bantamweight Marlon Moraes, as well as the debut of Nick Newell. The preliminary card is headlined by former UFC middleweights Gerald Harris and Jorge Santiago, who are both now at 170 lbs.
