Ariel Helwani caught up with UFC Welterweight contender Rory MacDonald and talked about Rory’s unanimous decision win tonight over Jake Ellenberger. Here’s how Bloody Elbow’s Chris Hall described the bout:
This was probably the most anticipated bout of the night. Despite the purported drama leading up to the bout, it was slow on the action. Both fighters were very wary of the other’s weapons which led to a virtual standoff. Neither fighter really got anything off, but Roy took the fight by landing his jab throughout the fight. It wasn’t until the last minute of the fight that Ellenberger landed a takedown, but it wasn’t enough to win the fight.
