Johny Hendricks is set to face UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre at UFC 167 on November 16. The challenger spoke to MMAExposed for a recent video interview and fired a couple small shots at GSP ahead of the bout.
“I’ve had just as much success in Canada as he has. Actually more because I’ve finished people in Canada. If I fought him in Canada, I don’t care where I fought him at. I’m happy it’s gonna be in Vegas but it didn’t matter where I fought him. I just want to fight him…. I just want to punch him, punch him in the freakin’ face and see how it goes from there…. Hopefully I can make GSP exciting. That’s my gameplan.”
Hendricks’ “just as much” or “more” success in Canada includes three UFC wins, a unanimous decision over Carlos Condit, a KO of Martin Kampmann and a majority decision over TJ Grant.
In his UFC run, GSP has five wins in Canada: decision wins over Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit, Jake Shields and Josh Koscheck as well as a TKO of Matt Serra.
UFC 167 will be GSP’s first fight in Las Vegas since UFC 100 in July of 2009.
