Knuckle Up #460: KNUCKLE UP knifer-in-residence EUGENE S. ROBINSON [the “S” is for Strangle] takes the rare opportunity, what given the dearth of MMA this weekend, to deliver some long-promised knowledge to all of the haters and would-be-haters in order that they may form a more perfect union of host and hatred. To that end Robinson covers what’s least likely to be effective, what’s most likely, why the haters hate and more and most importantly how much he really values their input. And its comedic value.
And magically he jiu jitsu’s into this a deeply philosophical discussion about the perils facing MMA and the fighters who fight it, DANA WHITE’s simple and sublimely stunning admission that MMA is no one’s long-term job and why White’s outrage over all of the talk of works and rumors of works and ANDERSON SILVA’S subsequent tears are, just to finish the triptych started with UFC 162, proof positive that strangeness was afoot that July night now way back when.
Add to this the proper way to listen to this show (not drunk, but it’d help) and you have a show to quickly forget about and never speak of again.
Eugene S. Robinson host of Knuckle Up and author of Fight: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Ass-Kicking but Were Afraid You’d Get Your Ass Kicked for Asking[Harper Collins], A LONG SLOW SCREW[Robotic Boot] and a play called THE INIMITABLE SOUNDS OF LOVE; A THREESOME IN FOUR ACTS[Southern] also sings for a band called OXBOW and appeared in Bill Cosby’s Leonard Part 6, a Miller Genuine Draftcommercial, and had his own TV show in Germany called? “The Eugene Robinson Show.”
And in a weirder moment yet? Co-hosted with ESPN’s STUART SCOTT a Superbowl fashion show in Tampa [ok, go ahead and ask, we ain’t say nothing].
