Nick Diaz became one of the focal points of a recent conversation UFC president Dana White had with the media. Diaz, who has claimed to be retired from active competition recently launched his own fight promotion company which appears to have made moves toward securing a date.
It started when Dana was informed that Carlos Condit said he’d be interested in a rematch with Diaz but that Diaz hadn’t responded yet. To which Dana said “I thought he was a retired promoter now?”
When asked what he thought about Diaz’s move to start his own fight promotion, White responded simply with “Good for him. Welcome to the losing money business.” Dana also said he wouldn’t talk to Diaz about his fight promotion business if he did want to come out of retirement, once again stressing how tough it is by saying “You wanna lose money? Come on.”
In the video, Dana also says that he hasn’t talked to Gilbert Melendez since after the fight, and was giving him time to take a break. He said that Melendez didn’t ask for an immediate rematch and he would likely not have granted Gil the immediate rematch if he had asked for it.
