A middleweight fight (187lbs/85kg) between two, undefeated knockout artists has been added to GLORY’s upcoming summer card in New York City.
Wayne Barrett (1-0, 1 KO) of Queens, N.Y. will face off with fellow undefeated Muay Thai stylist Mike Lemaire (9-0, 3 KOs) in what now stands as the fourth exhibition fight at the first GLORY championship series kickboxing event. GLORY 9: New York City takes place Jun. 22 from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, N.Y.
After an impressive amateur kickboxing and Muay Thai career amassing a record of 19-1 (15 KO), Barrett made his professional debut with a TKO victory against Strahinja Ivanovic this February. A former Golden Gloves winner, Barrett should enjoy a home field advantage as he splits time training under Kelly Richardson in Brooklyn, N.Y.
An established veteran at just 26, Lemaire really came on the scene Feb. 9 by defeating three opponents in a one-night tournament to score the developmental ‘Road To GLORY USA’ middleweight tournament championship and a multi-year contract with the promotion.
Previously announced, Romanian heavyweight star Daniel Ghita faces Brice Guidon in the night’s main event. Additionally, ‘Bazooka’ Joseph Valtellini takes on Francois Ambang while Brett Hlavacek squares off with Paul Marfort. The event also includes an eight-man, one-night tournament. The winner of the night’s light-heavyweight tournament walks away with a check for $250,000.
