Tonight at UFC 159, Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones tied the record for successful title defenses when he defeated Chael Sonnen. Despite breaking his toe while defending a takedown, Jones went on to TKO Sonnen very late in the first round.
Sonnen came into the fight off a TKO loss to Middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 148. This was his first appearance at 205 lbs. since losing to Jeremy Horn at UFC 60 back in 2006. Jones won the LHW belt in 2011 at UFC 129. He’s absolutely dominated the division since then with only one contender making it to the final bell.
