After three consecutive title defenses, Ben Henderson is getting a reputation for keeping his fights close. Aside from his dominant victory over Nate Diaz at UFC On Fox 5, both his first defense against Frankie Edgar and his most recent fight against Gilbert Melendez have been two of the closest championship fights in recent memory. Regardless, with his split decision victory over Melendez tonight at UFC On Fox 7, Bendo tied the record of former Lightweight king B.J. Penn.
Tying the promotional record for title defenses wasn’t enough for Henderson, though. Before Joe Rogan could get even get off his first question, Ben interrupted him saying, “I gotta go see about a girl.” If this allusion is lost on any of you, go watch Good Will Hunting, now.
