Invicta FC officials have announced that former Strikeforce women’s 145lb champs Cris Cyborg (11-1, 1 NC) and Marloes Coenen (21-5) will reprise their January 2010 bout at Invicta FC 6 will take place this summer. No date or locale has yet been announced for the event.

Cyborg took the SF belt from Coenen with a 3rd round TKO win at Strikeforce: Miami in January 2010. Cyborg went on to defend the belt against Jan Finney before being stripped of the title after testing positive for an anabolic steroid following a December, 2011 fight against Hiroko Yamanaka. Cyborg’s TKO win over Yamanaka was turned into a No Contest and she served a 1 year suspension and paid a $2,500 fine.

Following the absorption of Strikeforce into the UFC, Cyborg and her manager Tito Oritz asked to be released from her Zuffa contract. Zuffa granted her freedom and she elected to sign with Invicta.

Coenen dropped down to Bantamweight and took that title from Sarah Kaufman in October 2010. She had one successful title defense before losing the title to Miesha Tate in July, 2011. She was then cut by Zuffa in a purge of Golden Glory fighters after the UFC’s management and the Dutch gym got into an ugly dispute involving the contract of superstar Alistair Overeem. Coenen is 2-0 since leaving Zuffa.

Cyborg made her Invcita debut this past weekend, beating Fiona Muxlow by TKO in the first round at Invicta FC 5.
