Paulo Filho not returning to WSOF, didn’t know who his manager was before last fight

Following a year and a half long layoff, Middleweight Paulo Filho returned to action last month at WSOF 2. For any that hadn’t seen the fighter in recent years, his performance against former UFC fighter David Branch would have been quite a disappointment. He was ineffective throughout the fight and just barely managed to avoid being finished.

Additionally, Filho apparently had plenty of issues leading up to the fight. World Series of Fighting president Ray Sefo spoke to MMA Junkie about Paulo and his future with the promotion:

“We went through a lot of issues,” Sefo said. “He didn’t even know who his manager was. … He had a couple of managers. At first, everything went smoothly. Then, toward the end, it was kind of rough.”

“Right now, he’s definitely not on the next show.”

While Sefo did leave the door open for future talks, it doesn’t seem likely that WSOF would work with Filho again. It’s definitely been a long fall for Paulo, who used to own the #2 spot in the 185 lb. division.
