Conor McGregor lived up to the hype with a sensational 67 second TKO victory over Marcus Brimage at UFC on Fuel 9 in Sweden. The Irishman (13-2) made it 9 straight wins and his 12th career KO/TKO win. In the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White said he will book McGregor for UFC on Fox Sports 1 1* in Boston on August 17th. (Quote retrieved from MMA Fighting)
“The answer is yes, you’re going to ask if I’m going to put McGregor on that card,” White said, anticipating a reporter’s question about whether McGregor will fight in Boston.
Boston of course is known for its large Irish immigrant/Irish descent population, so it’s only logical for McGregor to be placed there after such a painless and quick win. Presumably his impressive performance also earned him a main card spot.
If you want to do some fantasy matchmaking for McGregor’s next fight, here’s a list of current UFC featherweights.
* – Yes, they’re actually calling this UFC on FS1 1. Hopefully once the main event is confirmed we can drop that really stupid title and go with UFC on FS1: Fighter A vs. Fighter B from now on.
