Shinya Aoki competed in front of his adopted home country of Singapore, and when he took on fellow Japanese star Kotetsu Boku for his lightweight strap, he made it look easy. The talented striker and Krazy Bee product in Boku didn’t even manage to stay on his feet that long, and after fending off a few strikes and countless submissions, Aoki eventually sunk in a rear naked choke to finish the fight on the second round.
Aoki, who was very emotional after winning the title, was never in trouble during the fight. Check out a few gifs from Bloody Elbow’s Zombie Prophet:
On the co-headlining spot, Brock Larson pulled off a come from behind win over Melvin Manhoef. The former UFC and WEC vet moved up to middleweight, and after surviving a shaky opening round, he dominated on the ground and win the fight on the later rounds.
Also on the card, the bantamweight finalists were determined as both Masakatsu Ueda and Kevin Belingon stopped their opponents to advance to the finals. Ueda choked out Jens Pulver, while the Filipino fighter in Belingon stopped Thanh Vu with strikes.
