Wanderlei Silva is coming off a huge win over Brian Stann at UFC on Fuel 8 in early March, and it looks like the UFC might be calling him back to compete much quicker than expected. It’s widely believed that Alexander Gustafsson will be forced out of his UFC on Fuel 9 main event bout with Gegard Mousasi due to a cut suffered in training. UFC president Dana White has said that the bout is still good to go, and Mousasi said today that be believes they’ll still be facing off. But according to a couple of tweets from The Axe Murderer, the UFC might be bringing him to Sweden instead:
Typical Wand English is sometimes hard to figure out at first, but it definitely looks like the UFC wants him to, and he wants to. Silva (35-12-1, 1 NC) has said that he’s more comfortable at light heavyweight (where his bout with Stann took place) anyway, so that would work. And he’s definitely a suitable replacement from an action standpoint. We’ll have to wait and see if this is what’s actually going to happen, but I like the idea of it.
