Ronda Rousey would like Cat Zingano to beat Miesha Tate at TUF 17 Finale

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is coming off a highly successful debut in the UFC with her win over Liz Carmouche at UFC 157, and will defend her title again after being a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. The opposing coach will be decided by who wins a bout between former Strikeforce champ Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale next month. Rousey was a guest on Inside MMA recently, and stated that it would be “nice” if Zingano won but despite her issues with Tate in the past, she was very respectful about it:

“I’ve had my eye on Cat for a while. She is one of the only other undefeated 135ers at the moment and so I’m very interested to see how that fight goes I think it would be nice to have Cat win and just to have another name that’s kind of well known within the girls ranks.”

Rousey defeated Tate for the Strikeforce title early last year after a very spirited verbal campaign against each other leading up to the bout. It’s true that Zingano would be a new challenge for Rousey and that another well-known name would be beneficial for WMMA. But there’s little doubt that the show would probably be more interesting with coaches that genuinely don’t like each other.
