UFC 158: St. Pierre vs Diaz – Live results and play-by-play for PPV main card

A long awaited welterweight showdown will take place tonight at UFC 158 when Georges St. Pierre defends his welterweight title against Nick Diaz. The show kicks off with a couple of fights streaming live on Facebook (6:35 p.m. ET), continuing to the FX broadcast (8 p.m. ET) through the five fight main card on pay-per-view (10 p.m. ET). And we’ll have live results and thoughts right here on Bloody Elbow all night long.

Aside from the evening’s main event of Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz, the co-main event sees another highly anticipated welterweight bout in Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks. A third welterweight bout is also on the main card with Jake Ellenberger vs. Nate Marquardt.

Nick Ring vs. Chris Camozzi in a middleweight bout and Mike Ricci vs. Colin Fletcher in a lightweight bout round out the evening’s main card.

Mike Ricci vs. Colin Fletcher – Round 1 – Both men fighting at distance and feeling things out with kicks and punches. Ricci with a good shot to the chest that knocks Fletcher back into the cage. Ricci with a left hand and Fletcher misses a counter to a kick. Hard left by Ricci and another and Fletcher does manage to counter that one. Ricci with a jab. Fletcher lands a low blow on a leg kick, so there’s a pause in the action. Ricci with a hard right hook as they restart. Fletcher catches a kick and pushes him into the cage and the round ends. 10-9 Ricci.

Round 2 -Ricci with a head kick early and then he gets a takedown and moves Fletcher into the cage. Ricci with some elbows now. He passes to side control now. Fletcher tries to attack a leg and eats a big punch for his trouble. Fletcher gets up and tries to push Ricci into the cage but gets spun and Fletcher is bleeding badly from one of those elbows. Left lands for Fletcher. Ricci with a nice one-two combination. Head kick for Ricci and Fletcher lands a leg kick. Straight left hand for Ricci. 10-9 Ricci.

Round 3 -Fletcher looks for a takedown and Ricci is defending well early on. Ricci gets separation and lands a few good punches. Ricci catches Fletcher with a good jab. Now Ricci lands a few more punches. Ricci with a takedown now and is basically in the mount but ends up in haf guard once the scrambling stops. Ricci working some good ground and pound and now Fletcher gives up his back. Ricci has both hooks in now. Ricci switches to an armbar but can’t finish. 10-9 Ricci for the 30-27.

Official scorecards: 30-27 across the board. Mike Ricci wins by unanimous decision.

Nick Ring vs. Chris Camozzi – Round 1 -Ring with some leg kicks early. They’re trading a lot of potshots early. Big left lands for Camozzi. Camozzi comes forward with some punches but Ring slips them. Camozzi with another overhand left that lands. Ring has had decent success with kicks but Camozzi is getting some decent punches in. Camozzi lands a nice counter. 10-9 Camozzi.

Round 2 – The two trade leg kicks early. Camozzi with a wild left that barely misses and Ring lands a body shot. Camozzi with a knee that lands. Ring starting to get in some punches and get out now. Big punch by Camozzi and a flying knee and he almost locks in a guillotine but Ring gets out. Ring is still moving in and out a lot but I don’t know that Camozzi isn’t doing the better actual work. Another big knee lands for Camozzi. 10-9 Camozzi.

ROund 3 -Camozzi landing a nice combo and Ring lands a jab in response. Ring is tiring as the round wears on and Camozzi lands a hard jab. Hard left hand by Camozzi and Ring is just gassed now. 30-27 Camozzi.

Official scorecards: 29-28 Camozzi, 29-28 Ring, 29-28 Camozzi. Chris Camozzi wins by split decision.

Jake Ellenberger vs. Nate Marquardt – Round 1 – Marquardt wih a leg kick that lands well. Ellenberger lands a leg kick and Marquardt falls down. Marquardt keeps landing his own leg kicks though. Marquardt lands a head kick and a punch and he tries to flurry and Ellenberger ends up landing a right hand that staggers Marquardt. Ellenberger lands a big shot and Marquardt drops. Ellenberger follows up with a big flurry and Marquardt is done.Jake Ellenberger wins by KO (punches), round 1.

Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks – Round 1 -Hendricks swarms early but doesn’t land. Now he lands a hard shot, Condit fires back, Hendricks slams him and then walks away. Condit with some nice strikes of his own and now Hendricks with another takedown, this time he seems content to be on top. Condit scrambles, looking for an arm but nothing there. They end up back on the feet. Hendricks takes the back standing after almost landing another slam. Hendricks does have the takedown now. Condit gets back up, Hendricks lands some big shots, Condit takes an arm as he’s getting taken down and uses that to end up on Hendricks’ back. Both men land bit shots and Hendricks gets a takedown to end the round. 10-9 Hendricks

Round 2 -Condit with a jumping knee, Hendricks pushes in and lands a body shot. Hendricks gets another takedown. Condit lands a good right hand. Hendricks with a few punches, Condit returns fire and now Hendricks gets another takedown. Back up and Condit lands a knee and a body shot and then a right hand. Hendricks with another takedown. Condit does get back up again though. Right hand by Condit. Condit lands a front kick, Hendricks lands a left hand and then gets the takedown. 10-9 Hendricks.

Round 3 -Hendricks has an injured hand and he gets a takedown right away because of it. Hendricks with some decent ground and pound, Condit uses the threat of a kimura to get the takedown and Hendricks responds by blasting him with his injured hand. Hendricks has the back standing now. Hendricks gets the takedown again. Condit lands a hard shot and Hendricks grabs on to him. Hendricks with another takedown. Condit does manage to get back up and he lands a big left hand and a knee and Hendricks is trying for another takedown. He manages to get the takedown but Condit rolls back to his feet and they’re trading knees and punches. Great fight. 10-9 Condit for me makes it 29-28 Hendricks.

Official scorecards: 29-28 across the board. Johny Hendricks wins by unanimous decision.

UFC Welterweight Championship: Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz – Round 1 -GSP with a leg kick and another. Diaz with a jab and GSP takes him down with ease. GSP landing shots to the body. Big elbow to the face by GSP. GSP has the back and Diaz is trying to get up. GSP landing punches to the side of the head. Diaz tries to turn and get a takedown. GSP still on top and landing some big elbows and punches to the body. GSP still staying stuck to Diaz, landing punches at wil and preventing Diaz from getting up. Diaz grabs the cage to get up. Diaz gets up and GSP slams him back down and continues punching. Diaz gets up all pissed off, probably because he got handled. 10-9 GSP.

Round 2 -GSP landing some good left hands in the stand up. Now he gets the takedown. GSP landing some good shots from on top. Diaz gives up his back looking for a leg and GSP blasts to the body with a knee. GSP landing a lot of punches to the side of Diaz’s head. GSP back on top in Diaz’s guard. Diaz manages to finally get to his feet. GSP with a superman jab that lands. GSP blocks a few kicks and lands a jab. Diaz does land a left hand finally. Another superman jab and Diaz taunts after the round. Basically because nothing else he does is working. 10-9 GSP.

Round 3 -GSP misses a flying kick early in the round. Diaz taunting. GSP tags him with a jab. Hits him with a jab again. GSP lands a left hand after slipping one of Nick’s punches. Diaz defends against a takedown. Now GSP gets the takedown. Diaz is able to crawl to the fence and get up. GSP lets go and goes back to distance. GSP just tagging him with the jab, now lands a right hand. Good body shot by Diaz. GSP with a left and a right and now he looks for the takedown again, Diaz stuffs it though. Big right hand by GSP. Diaz with a left hand and a right. Right hand by Diaz and he’s finally landing. GSP with a big takedown. Diaz gives up the back as GSP passes again. Diaz throws a punch after the end of the round. Intentional cheap shot attempt should 100% lead to losing a point. Regardless, 10-9 GSP.

Round 4 -GSP beating him to the jab again this round. GSP

shot is stuffed, so he settles for landing another jab. Again, a jab lands. GSP can’t get the single leg. GSP can’t get the takedown again, so he lands a superman punch. They’re in the clinch and Diaz is doing good work to the body. Diaz with a hard flurry. Left hand lands for GSP. Jab again. Diaz had that nice flurry, but then he backed off. GSP with another nice double leg to end up on top. GSP with a big slam takedown after Diaz got to his feet. Diaz back to his feet again. Diaz looking for a kimura. GSP landing some shots to the side of the head again. Diaz tries to roll for a leg lock. 10-9 GSP.

Round 5 -GSP landing the jab and now Diaz tries to come forward and he does land a good left. GSP with a hard jab. They clinch and Diaz lands a knee to the body, GSP lands one in return. They’re trading knees to the body in the clinch. GSP landing two punch combos. Diaz throws a head kick and GSP lands a leg kick sweeping Diaz to the mat. GSP on top now with Diaz looking for a kimura. GSP’s arm is free, Diaz rolls, GSP stays on top and lands some punches and now a knee to the body. Diaz manages to escape. GSP with the jab. Diaz with some body shots in the clinch. Leg kick by GSP and he misses a head kick. GSP with a big takedown with under a minute left. GSP lands a hard elbow. GSP flurries to the end. Diaz raises GSP’s hand after the fight ends.10-9 GSP for the clean sweep.

Official scorecards: 50-45 across the board. Georges St. Pierre wins by unanimous decision.
