UFC 158 fighter Carlos Condit sparring with boxer Austin Trout

At UFC 158: St. Pierre vs. Diaz, former Interim UFC Welterweight champion Carlos Condit takes on Johny Hendricks in the night’s co-main event. It’s a very important fight for both men, as the winner is likely to face the winner of GSP vs. Nick Diaz for the Welterweight title. For Condit, that would mean a rematch with either man and another chance to show that is more than just an interim champion. In order for Condit to get that chance, he’ll have to get by the heavy hands of Hendricks.

In the lead-up to UFC 158 and his fight with Hendricks, Condit took time to spar with another powerful puncher – boxing world champion Austin Trout. Here’s what Trout had to say about working with Condit:

It was good. I got to taste that right hand and it makes me feel real tough that I’m still standing here to talk to you today… Carlos is good people – New Mexico strong… I just sparred with a UFC world champion. It was an honor to be in the cage with Carlos Condit.

Trout is coming off his big December 2012 win over Miguel Cotto in Madison Square Garden, and is now preparing for a huge April 20 fight with Canelo Alvarez.
