Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs wants to coach after wrestling career is done

Jordan Burroughs is a special athlete and talent. Since graduating college as a 2 time Division-I NCAA national champion for the Nebraska Huskers, he went straight into competing for Team USA in international freestyle wrestling … and has not lost a single match since.

His double-leg takedown is executed with such great technique and speed, it might be the best the sport of wrestling has ever seen, and the move’s high percentage use in MMA lead many fans of both sports to clamour for the young New Jerseyan — and the current World and Olympic champion in his weight class — to one day cross over.

When asked though, Burroughs has never shown a particular eagerness to try his hand at this form of combative prize fighting, making the all too familiar comment we hear from many uncertain wrestlers about not liking the idea of getting hit in the face (not many fighters really do, but stating so when asked to consider the sport is an immediate mental block to taking that step in most cases).

Earlier today on his official Facebook page, Burroughs seems to make clear what his plans are once his competitive wrestling career is up:

This doesn’t completely close the door on at least an attempt at MMA, but it’s looking less likely that Burroughs’ pursuit of gold will ever come in the form of a UFC title.
