Robbie Lawler hadn’t fought in the UFC in eight years, but he made a pretty impressive return to the organization at UFC 157 against Josh Koscheck. After fighting off Koscheck’s signature wrestling, Lawler started bombing away and got a TKO finish at 3:57 of the first round. It may have come a bit early for some, but it doesn’t really matter now.
Koscheck came out quickly with a big punch and knee. Koscheck got the takedown right after that. Lawler was able to get up quickly but Koscheck maintained control with a front headlock long enough to get it back down. Lawler got back to his feet again, and the two men engaged in a lengthy clinch battle against the cage.
Finally Lawler pancaked Koscheck, and landed a big punch that seemed to stun Koscheck. His hands drop after a few more Lawler punches and Herb Dean stopped it. Koscheck looked okay though.
