The main event at UFC on Fox 6 is a fight for the UFC Flyweight title. Champion Demetrious Johnson (16-2-1 MMA; 4-1-1 UFC) faces challenger John Dodson (14-5 MMA; 3-0 UFC). This five round title fight is the last of four main card fights. UFC on Fox 6 airs live from Chicago this Saturday night, January 26, with the main card beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT.
This is just the second Flyweight title fight in UFC history (the first crowned Johnson as the division’s inaugural champion). As such, it’s nice to see it getting a headlining spot. While these two may not have the casual fan name recognition of many other UFC fighters, they absolutely have the goods to deliver a fantastic fight. Expect a furiously fast pace for a 5 round war here.
How do these two stack up?
Johnson: 26 years old | 5’3″ | 66″ reach
Dodson: 28 years old | 5’3″ | 66″ reach
What have these two done recently?
Johnson: W – Joseph Benavidez (SD) | W – Ian McCall (UD) | D – Ian McCall (Maj. Draw)
Dodson: W – Jussier Formiga (TKO) | W – Tim Elliott (UD) | W – T.J. Dillashaw (TKO)
How did these two get here?
Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is a former WEC fighter. He had solid success in the Bantamweight division, including earning a title shot against Dominick Cruz. But when the UFC added the 125 pound Flyweight division, the smaller Johnson quickly dropped down. His debut was a confusing majority draw against Ian McCall, but he quickly avenged that draw with a win before claiming the first ever UFC Flyweight title with a win over Joseph Benavidez. Johnson is an incredibly fast fighter, skilled in all areas of the game, who trains under the great Matt Hume. He’s potentially on the verge of pound for pound greatness, looking to prove it tonight.
More on UFC on Fox 6: Johnson vs. Dodson
John Dodson is another former Bantamweight, winning that division on The Ultimate Fighter 14. He’s had a great run in the UFC, culminating in a huge win over Jussier Formiga (or Jussier da Silva). Though largely unknown to many fans, Jussier was considered one of the sport’s elite at 125, and Dodson’s TKO win escalated him to this title fight. Dodson trains under Greg Jackson, making this an interesting battle between two of the sport’s most cerebral coaches. Interestingly, if Dodson wins, he’ll be the first TUF champion to wear UFC gold since season 4 winner Matt Serra.

Flyweights deliver. This is going to be fast-paced and awesome.
