UFC 156: Joseph Benavidez opens as large favorite over Ian McCall

The final main card bout for the UFC 156 card is a battle between two top-five flyweights in Joseph Benavidez and Ian McCall. Both men are coming off losses to current UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, but it appears that oddsmakers are leaning towards Benavidez for the bout. Here’s a look at the current line:

There are three books offering the line so far (including 5Dimes), and they’re all in the same area. One book had McCall opening at just +145, but quickly adjusted their line when others opened in this range. In terms of whether this is worthy of a play or not, I think it is. Benavidez has the better track record but I believe McCall can match his wrestling and speed, as he did in his first bout with Mighty Mouse. I see this as a lot closer of a fight than the line indicates, and will be betting on McCall.
