Paul Daley says Marcus Davis turned down fight, still looking for an opponent despite Bellator objections

Paul Daley has been planning on a fight in Ireland since he ran into Visa problems after an arrest for assault preventing him from flying to America to participate in the Bellator welterweight tournament. Despite Daley being “booked” on the Cage Contender XVI card, Bellator CEO, Bjorn Rebney made it very clear to Bloody Elbow that they have not cleared him to fight outside of the promotion, saying “There’s a regimented process with paperwork and approvals and the like. We’re worldwide exclusive promoters, and we’re trying to work through it, and I’m hoping we can get something done, but that remains to be seen.”

Regardless, Daley was on Facebook earlier today, still looking for ideas for an opponent for the Cage Contender card:

Since Marcus Davis has declined to fight me, Who would you guys like to see me fight? The promoters are securing an opponent…but as a lot of people seem scared to fight me, its always good to have some back up ideas.

Given that Rebney is saying he isn’t cleared to fight anywhere else and stressing the ‘worldwide exclusive’ aspect of Daley’s contract, it seems like things could potentially get ugly quickly.
