The main event of the DREAM 18 portion of the mega New Year’s Eve card was a featherweight bout between UFC veteran Michihiro Omigawa, and top ranked Tatsuya Kawajiri.

The bout saw Kawajiri earn a one-sided victory by using his wrestling and overwhelming Omigawa on the ground.

During the opening round, Kawajiri, who was sporting a new hair style, immediately shot for a double leg and got on top. From there, it was trademark ‘Crusher’ as he did his thing and started raining ground and pound for the entire round. He didn’t bother passing the guard and was content to start landing heavy shots from on top.

The second round started with a more prolonged time standing, but midway through, it was Kawajiri again who was able to land another takedown. Omigawa gets stiffled again, unable to do anything as Kawajiri was able to pass his guard, and land shots. Kawajiri was able to secure an arm triangle choke on the final seconds, but the bell was able to save Omigawa.

On the third round, Kawajiri was able to get yet another takedown, and again, it was more of the same. A few ground and pound, and Tatsuya was able to pass to mount yet again. He attempted the same arm triangle choke, but Omigawa was able to yet again able to defend until the final bell.

It was still an impressive and dominant performance for Kawajiri, who is unbeated since dropping down to featherweight, and is now riding a 5-fight win streak.
