ONE Fighting Championship has released the complete fight card for their 7th show to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As reported earlier, headlining the card are two Filipinos and former training partners in Eric Kelly (9-0) and Honorio Banario (7-1), who will be setting their friendship aside when they face off for the inaugural ONE FC Featherweight Championship.
Co-headlining the card is a flyweight title eliminator between Wushu expert and current URCC Pinweight (119 lbs.) Champion Rey Docyogen (10-0), and former Shooto Bantamweight (123 lbs.) king, Shinichi Kojima (12-5-5). The Team Lakay product has dominated the Filipino MMA scene, but when he goes up on this number 1 contender’s bout, Docyogen will be having a huge step up in competition against the bigger and much more experienced fighter in ‘BJ’.
Another intriguing match up has been booked for the card, as ONE FC has signed a hot prospect from the URCC, in Lowen Tynanes (2-0). As a state wrestling champ from the US who dominated the amateur circuit, this fighter recently made waves in the Asian scene after he claimed the biggest win of his young career when he upset Eduard Folayang earlier this month. The young wrestling-based prospect will once again be having a high profile bout when he faces ONE FC star, and former Muay Thai champion, Vuyisile Colossa (4-2). Both guys have been working on their overall MMA game, but this is definitely an interesting match up with their contrasting styles.
Also on the card, the fourth and final quarterfinal bout for the ONE FC Bantamweight GP. Strikeforce vet and former KOTC champ, Ryan Diaz will take on Vietnamese fighter Thanh Vu for a slot at the semifinals, where Kevin Belingon, Masakatsu Ueda, and Jens Pulver have already qualified and waiting at the wings.
The event will also see the ONE FC Malaysian National Featherweight Tournament, along with Adam Kayoom, Peter Davis, and the much anticipated debut of NCAA Division 1 wrestler, Jake Butler from Evolve MMA.
