Court McGee is dropping to welterweight after two straight losses, and he’ll meet former lightweight Josh Neer at UFC 157. The news comes via MMA Fighting:
The winner of the eleventh season of “The Ultimater Fighter” has agreed to fight Josh Neer in 170-pound action at UFC 157 on Feb. 23, MMA Fighting has learned from closes sources to the event. The UFC has yet to officially announce the bout.
McGee (13-3) dropped consecutive bouts to Constantinos Phillipou and most recently Nick Ring, both by decision. He had been on an eight-fight winning streak before that. Neer (33-12) is also on a two-fight losing streak, getting knocked out by Mike Pyle at UFC on FX 3 and submitted by Justin Edwards at UFC on FX 5.
The bout is expected to take place on the preliminary card. The show will be main-evented by the first women’s fight in UFC history, as Ronda Rousey defends her title against Liz Carmouche.
