UFC on FX 6 results recap: Ross Pearson vs. George Sotiropoulos
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena

In the main event of UFC on FX 6, Ross Pearson battered George Sotiropoulos for a long time before finally picking up a third-round TKO victory. Pearson dropped the Australian in every round, finally landing a crushing right that put George down for good at 41 seconds of the third stanza. Other than one takedown in the first, Sotiropoulos wasn’t ever able to get anything going and just got outclassed.

Pearson (14-6, 6-3 UFC) was making his return to lightweight after a two-fight spell at featherweight. Sotiropoulos (14-5, 7-3 UFC) has now lost three fights in a row, and has been knocked out in the last two.

What was the high point of the fight?

Probably the knockout. Pearson caught him clear and George went down fast.

Where do they go from here?

Pearson’s future is up in the air since no one’s quite sure what division the British fighter will compete at now. He had been at featherweight, but this win at lightweight might encourage him to stay there. Personally I think he’s more of a threat at featherweight where the division isn’t that deep, but weight cuts aren’t fun so it wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed at 155.

Who knows where Sotiropoulos goes from here. Is retirement a possibility? He’s 35 and has been pretty battered in his last three fights. Plus he was coming off an 18-month absence due to injury. My guess is that he’ll continue to fight, but I’m not sure who they could put him in there with.

Watch now, later, or never?

Now. It was one-sided, but was fairly entertaining either way.
