The TUF: The Smashes finale aired Friday night with UFC On FX 6. In the main event, UK coach Ross Pearson broke Aussie George Sotiropoulos down with his superior striking acumen. Except for a short minute at the end of round one, Pearson completely avoided the threatening submission attack of G-Sot. In the end, Pearson finished the fight with the lead left hook he’d landed consistently to earn a TKO at 0:41 of the third round.
TUF: The Smashes finalists Norman Parke and Robert Whittaker won the Lightweight and Welterweight tournaments, respectively. Parke overwhelmed Colin Fletcher with his Judo game and solid top control to earn the decision. Whittaker beat Bradley Scott on the feet with his striking despite an apparent injury to his right foot.
In the main card opening fight, former Judo Olympian Hector Lombard picked up a TKO victory over leg lock specialist Rousimar Palhares.
