This Saturday night, on HBO Boxing, Nonito Donaire (30-1, 19 KOs) attempts to cement as place as the 2012 fighter of the year as he takes on Jorge Arce (60-6-2(1), 46 KOs). Donaire vs. Arce airs Saturday night, December 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT live on HBO.
Though he doesn’t have as high a profile in the mainstream media, Donaire is already a fixture of pound for pound lists. That status is partly thanks to a very impressive highlight reel. Twice, Donaire has arguably produced the KO of the year. The first KO came in 2007 against Vic Darchinyan. Here, we take a look at his second KO of the year – a brutal 2011 assault of Fernando Montiel.
At the time of this fight, Donaire was a three division champion, now competing at Bantamweight. He was just beginning to make mention on pound for pound lists. This KO helped prove that he was absolutely deserving of one of those spots.
