After almost two years sitting out because of injury and illness, Welterweight Mike Swick is finally able to fight on a regular schedule. He first returned to action at UFC On Fox 4 against Damarques Johnson who he knocked out in the second round. Tonight at UFC On Fox 5 he faced off against TUF 7 vet Matt Brown.
Brown got a take down early in the first round. He immediately took half-guard and started setting up a D’arce choke. He let Swick get on top while still in the choke and eventually escaped. Brown immediately started working for the triangle. He got his leg over Swick’s shoulder and started attacking the arm as well. Swick defended well and they get back on their feet.
In the second round Swick tried to use his reach advantage to hit Brown from range before tying up against the fence. They separate and Swick continues to try to strike from the outside. Matt Brown decided he had enough of that and lunged in with wild hooks. He landed big with his left, followed up with a straight right and Mike Swick is out. Matt Brown knocked out Mike Swick in the second round.
