Last week there were reports that bantamweight contender Urijah Faber would face Vaughan Lee at UFC 156 in Las Vegas. It was largely deemed as a mismatch given Faber has fought at an elite level while Lee is only 1-2 in the UFC with a loss to Faber’s teammate T.J. Dillashaw. In an interview with Fighters Only, Lee addressed the reports and quelled any talk that this fight had been set.
“Yeah it’s a rumor, I haven’t heard anything from the UFC confirming it, so yeah it’s just a nice rumor that’s got me a lot of followers on Twitter. I heard about me fighting Faber over Twitter, people we’re like, ‘Well, you’re fighting Faber and all this,’ and I was like ‘Am I? Oh Cool.’ It’s just a rumor, we haven’t heard anything.”

I sure hope that this fight is just a rumor as there’s just no way to justify this being remotely competitive. The question is who should Faber fight? Michael McDonald could be fighting for the interim belt, Brian Bowles already lost to Faber, and the likes of Scott Jorgensen and Brad Pickett have upcoming fights this month.
