The final FOX card of 2012 promises to be a memorable one, and the effort to promote the card has been prominent on NFL broadcasts, with the likes of Joe Buck and Dick Stockton — the latter seriously pronounced Nate Diaz as “Nate Die-azz” — reading off promos over the last several weeks. Commercial breaks have included 15 and 30 second videos highlighting the main event and B.J. Penn against Rory MacDonald. This Sunday during FOX’s singleheader NFL weekend, the Road to the Octagon special will mark its return. Per the UFC’s official release:

FSMG’s blanket coverage kicks-off on Sunday, Dec. 2 with an hour long special titled UFC on FOX 5: ROAD TO THE OCTAGON. The series takes a look at all four fights featured on FOX Sports’ card and how those fighters range in style, strategy and preparation. The special airs either prior to or following FOX Sports’ singleheader NFL coverage on Dec 2 and re-airs Tuesday, Dec. 4 (9:00 PM ET) on FUEL TV.

For those who get a 1 PM ET/10 AM PT game (“early game”) the show will broadcast after the game ends and the recaps are finished. If you get the late game of Tampa Bay vs. Denver, it will air at 3 PM ET/12 PM PT.

The push for improved ratings is also obvious in their FUEL-to-FX switch for their preliminary card broadcasts. With two title fights upcoming in less than two months and national advertisement from NFL games to X-Factor commercial breaks, it’ll be fairly important to see better numbers out of these FOX cards, and hopefully the fights are fantastic as well.
