For the second time in a few months, Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has pulled out of a planned title defense against Lorenz Larkin due to an injury. And Larkin is understandably steamed about it. He took to twitter and sent UFC president Dana White a couple of telling messages:

I’d probably be frustrated too if I was given a shot at a title and had the rug pulled out from under me twice in a row. But there’s probably a lot more at play here, given that Strikeforce is probably about to close up shop. It might not be the worst thing in the world for guys like Gilbert Melendez and Rockhold to make sure they’re absolutely 100% if they’re going to fight for Strikeforce. A few months can make a major difference for them, considering they could both be having their next bouts in the UFC instead.

Maybe they could go with Larkin vs. Ronaldo Souza instead? It’s a step down from a title shot for Larkin, but Jacare probably deserved the shot all along and it would be a good replacement bout.

UPDATE: Rockhold sent out a scorching reply via twitter:

And Larkin comes back with more, including a humorous insult:

And Rockhold says he never actually signed the contract, even though SF is promoting the fight?

Quite interesting, since Rockhold’s whole twitter feed is talking about his training. Larkin responds again:

Rockhold just went on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, so…this should be interesting.
