Last night at Montreal’s Bell Centre in front of 17,149 screaming home-town fans, Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre overcame ring rust after 18 months away from the Octagon as well as interim champion Carlos Condit in a thrilling 5 round affair.
GSP dominated the fight from beginning to end with strong stand-up, slick take downs and damaging ground and pound, winning all but one round on one judge’s card. Condit certainly had his moments though, battering GSP from the bottom throughout the fight and at one point in round 3 dropping the champion with a high kick to the head that briefly looked to be the end for the champ.
But GSP survived the scare and continued to dominate the rest of the bout.
