Picking up right we’re we left off, Zombie Prophet and I are back with Part 2 of the Bas Rutten GIFathon. Last time, we left off with Bas’s first fight against Ken Shamrock. As you saw, in their first meeting Shamrock was able to catch Rutten in a rear naked choke. Bas would have a chance to avenge the loss at Pancrase: Eyes of the Beast 2, which you’ll see here. Unfortunately for ‘El Guapo’, Shamrock’s catch wrestling was a step above his own and he was caught in one in a knee bar.
On top of that, you’ll get to see the highlights from Bas’s first two fights against Ken’s foster brother Frank Shamrock. Ken got Frank into MMA and he’d become one of the biggest stars to emerge from Pancrase. Because most of his prime was during the ‘dark days’ of mixed martial arts, Frank remains one of the most underappreciated fighters of that time. His 3-fight series against Rutten is one of the few great trilogies in the history of the sport.
