Another scintillating fight has been booked for UFC on FOX 6 in Chicago. Impressive lightweights T.J. Grant and Matt Wiman will face off this January as they both look to inch closer to the top of the division. Via MMA Junkie:
A lightweight bout between rising contenders T.J. Grant (19-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) and Matt Wiman (15-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) is the latest addition to January’s quickly filling UFC on FOX 6 card.
Officials today announced the fight.
This is more fantastic matchmaking. Grant is coming off a FOTN upset win over Evan Dunham at UFC 152, moving him to 3-0 at his new home of lightweight. While 13 of Grant’s 19 wins come by submission, he showcased his stand-up against Dunham en route to a unanimous decision.
Watt Miman Matt Wiman has won 5 of his last 6 (with the one loss a disputed decision against Dennis Siver), including a dramatic armbar win over submission specialist Paul Sass at UFC on Fuel 5. Wiman is a 4-time FOTN winner and took home his first submission of the night with the Sass win.
It’s not known if this one will take place on the main card or the preliminary card, but this definitely deserves main card action if you ask me.
UFC on FOX 6 is headlined by the flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson, and also features Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis and Quinton Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira.
