Wanderlei Silva and Rogerio Nogueira set for assistant coaches on TUF Brazil 2

News came last week confirming TUF Brazil 2 would take place in the spring of 2013. Coaching the two teams will be Brazilian Heavyweights Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum. The second season of TUF Brazil will also be Minotauro’s second coaching position for the reality TV series. Leading up to a defense of his interim Heavyweight championship, Big Nog coached against Frank Mir, who took the title from him at UFC 92.Although he’s never been head coach, Werdum did appear in the first TUF Brazil season as an assistant to Wanderlei Silva.

Unsurprisingly. Globo Esportes confirmed that Nog’s first pick as assistant coach was his twin brother Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, who scheduled to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 156. Team Nog will also include Eric Albarracin (wrestling) and Everaldo Penco (BJJ) as grappling coaches. For striking, Nogueira will bring in Middleweight Vitor Miranda and Bantamweight Sheymon Moraes.

In another Globo article, Fabricio also announced his coaching staff for the upcoming season. He turned the tables on Wanderlei and invited “The Axe Murderer” to assist him this time around. The two have been training partners for some time at Kings MMA in California and they’ll bring Kings’ head coach Rafael Cordeiro with them to Brazil. Rounding out the team will be Ruben Cobrinha for BJJ and Kenny Johnson for wrestling. Additionally, Fabricio’s brother Felipe will aid in capoeira training.

After the show is over, Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum will meet each other in the Octagon. As of yet no location has been officially set for the fight, but the event is expected to take place on June 8, 2013.
