Rory MacDonald and B.J. Penn have gone through with their promise to undergo VADA testing in advance of their UFC on Fox 5 welterweight bout on December 8th. MacDonald was featured on Fuel TV’s “Training Day: Inside Tristar Gym Live”, which looks at various Tri-Star members and their upcoming fights. MacDonald was asked about the additional testing, and said that it has begun already:
“It already started. My first test was last week.”
…
I got a random knock on the door. They did the test. So from here to the fight, it’s just random testing.”
He doesn’t seem overly impressed with it, but he says he can handle the testing:
“It’s pretty annoying. I don’t like getting woken up in the morning. It threw my routine off. I didn’t expect it. I forget about it, to tell you the truth. It was a bit annoying that day, but if it only happens a few times, a couple times, I can deal with it.”
I’m curious to see what B.J. has to say about the testing too. Penn was the one that initiated the entire process by saying he’d like to use it for their bout, and Rory agreed. Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit also looked into additional testing for their UFC 154 title bout on November 17th, but were apparently unable to agree on who should handle the testing itself.
