
As with every major show, Bloody Elbow will be here to bring you live results, play by play and commentary for UFC on Fuel 5: Struve vs. Miocic. Our live coverage will start with the prelim fights on Facebook (currently scheduled for 1:45 p.m. ET) and continuing through the Fuel TV main card (4 p.m. ET).
This post will cover live results and thoughts for the main card on Fuel.
The evening’s main event sees Stefan Struve take on Stipe Miocic in a heavyweight bout. Fan favorite welterweights Dan Hardy and Amir Sadollah will meet in the show’s co-main event. Brad Pickett and Yves Jabouin will face off in a bantamweight fight. Lightweights Paul Sass and Matt Wiman will battle on the card as well.
Kicking off the broadcast will be a pair of welterweight fights as John Hathaway faces John Maguire and Che Mills faces Duane Ludwig.

Che Mills vs. Duane Ludwig – Round 1 – They exchange wildly but end up in a clinch. Mills with the takedown but Ludwig gets up. Mills takes him right back down. Mills doing some work with elbows now. Something just happened on the ground to Ludwig’s leg and he’s clutching his knee and this fight is over. It looks like in the takedown his foot stuck in the ground and his knee twisted. Che Mills wins by TKO (injury), round 1.
John Hathaway vs. John Maguire – Round 1 – Hathaway throwing his kicks to the legs and upstairs, missing on the head kick. Hathaway lands a few punches and then circles back out. Maguire gets in with a left hand. Head kick by Hathaway aand Maguire circles back to the outside. Hathaway hasn’t landed anything huge but he’s picking away at length. Takedown attempt by Hathaway but Maguire pulls him away. Now Maguire lands a hard short hook. 10-9 Hathaway.
Round 2 – Leg kick by Hathaway. Now he opens up a bit and Maguire is against the cage. Hathaway gets the takedown and he’s on top in half guard. Not a lot happening this round. Hathaway still on top, just pecking away. Maguire tries to push Hathaway off with his legs but now Hathaway is in side control. 10-9 Hathaway.
Round 3 – Now Hathaway with a good punch and a knee. Hathaway using his reach well again, just pecking his way to a win. Knee to the body from Hathaway. Maguire manages the takedown with about 90 seconds left and he’s in side control. Hathaway gets full guard again and he’s throwing elbows to Maguire’s head. Hathaway more active from his back and the round ends. 10-9 Hathaway.
Official scorecards: 30-27 across the board. John Hathaway wins by unanimous decision.
Paul Sass vs. Matt Wiman – Round 1 – Sass gets a quick takedown and Wiman is trying to get back to his feet against the cage. Wiman with an elbow off his back. Sass dives for a leg from on top and loses position. Now he ends up sweeping and getting back on top. Wiman throws up his legs for a triangle but doesn’t have it. He does land a few more elbows off his back. Sass with a heavy punch from on top. More good punches from Sass and Wiman has an arm. He’s trying to finish the armbar. AND HE DOES! WOW! Matt Wiman wins by submission (armbar), round 1.
Brad Pickett vs. Yves Jabouin – Round 1 – Poke to the eye by Jabouin during the first exchange. Jabouin with a head kick that just misses. Jabouin with some nice shots and now he nails him with a hard knee. Pickett taking the shots well and firing back himself. Jabouin with a spinning back kick to the body and he lands an overhand right. Huge uppercut by Pickett and Jabouin is out! Wow, huge uppercut just flattened him. Brad Pickett wins by KO (uppercut), round 1.
Amir Sadollah vs. Dan Hardy – Round 1 – Lost my text from the first 3:30 of the round, but they traded a lot on the feet with Hardy getting the better of the exchanges, especially with his left hook. Now Amir pushing him into the cage but Hardy turns him. Hardy flurries with a combo and now Amir laces a really nice combo that rocks Hardy’s head back. 10-9 Hardy.
Round 2 – Amir pokes him in the eye early but Hardy is okay and he’s opening up with some hard strikes. Amir with a good left hand. Hardy ends up getting a takedown a little less than two minutes into the round. AMir gets up but Amir keeping it in the clinch. Hardy with another double leg. Hardy ends the round landing some short shots from on top. 10-9 Hardy
Round 3 – Hardy pushes him into the cage. Hardy has split open Amir’s skin near the right eye, probably from a short inside elbow. Right hand from Hardy buckle’s Amir’s legs and then he takes him down. Hardy on top while Amir tries for a triangle but no luck. Hardy with a good elbow. Hardy with some nice elbows. Hardy just working from top, avoiding Amir’s subs and doing some damage with the short elbows. Hardy with some nice shots and he’s back to looking for a takedown. 10-9 Hardy.

Stefan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic – Round 1 – Miocic with a leg kick. Right hand by Miocic. Leg kick by Miocic. Miocic trying to come in quickly with aosme shots. Good body work by Miocic. More leg kicks. Good body work again by Miocic. Left hand and now a right from Struve. Jab from Miocic. Head kick from Struve is just blocked. Right hand from Miocic lands. Struve knees to the body, they tumble to the ground and Miocic backs away. Head kick from Struve and Miocic with a counter right. They trade jabs. Miocic to the body again. Struve with a jab and a knee to the body. Leg kick from Struve and he’s warming up a little bit. Hard jab again. 10-9 Miocic
Round 2 – Struve coming forward a bit more early and he lands a body kick. Hard low blow by Struve. Stipe with a nice flurry. Struve almost grabbed a guillotine but Miocic circled away. Jabs from Struve. Struve with a hard left. Good shots from Struve and Miocic is running away. Struve backs off a bit and Miocic is recovering slightly. Struve tags him again. Miocic lands and hurts Struve now. Miocic with a nice combo and another good right. Big uppercut and a series of hard right hands from Struve. Huge right by Struve and he follows up and Stipe is out! Stefan Struve wins by TKO (punches), round 2.
