The Ultimate Fighter 16 Episode 2 Live Thread And Dissection
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena

Last Friday the 16th season of The Ultimate Fighter premiered for it’s second run on the FX network. Although the first episode set the record for lowest rated debut episode in the series history, there was still some exciting action. Rival Heavyweights Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin were tapped as coaches back in July. Typically, the first episode features the coaches’ banter as they evaluate the fighters competing to enter the TUF house. This time, however, UFC president Dana White stole the show with his praise of any stand up “war” and heavy criticism of fights that hit the ground.

As Fraser Coffeen pointed out in his weekly recap power-puncher Sam Alvey ran away with the most impressive performance of the night and earned his spot as Carwin’s #1 pick. Both Fraser and Dana White also noted that Shane appears to have picked the stronger team from the 16 fighters.

The show starts at 10 PM EST (7 PM PST), jump in the comments and tell me how much you love Roy’s beard and mullet.
