Fabricio Werdum Would Take Daniel Cormier Fight If Asked By The UFC

UFC heavyweight Fabricio Werdum doesn’t have a fight lined up right now, and there just happens to be a huge opening in a certain Strikeforce main event. Frank Mir bowed out of his bout with Daniel Cormier last night due to an injured knee, and in a chat with MMAInterviews, Werdum said he’d be interested in the possible bout. That fight would go down November 3rd in Oklahoma City. The interviewer told him Mir was out, and after Werdum asked what the date of the fight was, he said that he’d be into it on a couple of conditions:

“I talk to my coach Rafael Cordeiro first. I don’t know. But if maybe if they (the UFC) tries to call me and Rafael says it’s okay, I’ll fight for sure.”

He said he’s been doing a lot of training lately, helping other people to prepare for their fights at UFC 153, so he’d probably be ready in under six weeks. He is the best available option, since he’s at about the same level as Mir and he’s known by Strikeforce fans already. The idea of a Werdum vs. Cormier fight has a lot of allure, and I’d personally like to see it. It’s way better than Cormier vs. Tim Sylvia or something.
