Another huge fight has been added to UFC 155 in Las Vegas, Nevada. A potential #1 contender fight between Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch is set for the December 29th card according to Reid Forgrave of FOX Sports.
This is a fight I asked for back in June 2011 but that was when they were both unknown commodities for separate reasons. Boetsch wasn’t exactly up to par at 205 lbs but his drop to middleweight has seen him pull off upset wins over Yushin Okami and Hector Lombard. He’s 4-0 at middleweight and has a legitimate case for a title shot if he wins again.
Weidman is the talk of the middleweight division and for good reason. With just 9 pro fights under his belt he’s beaten Demian Maia on short notice and recently obliterated Mark Munoz relentlessly until Josh Rosenthal finally stopped the fight over the Labor Day weekend. He’s 5-0 in the UFC and another top-level win will certainly solidify his place as #1 middleweight not named Anderson Silva.
UFC 155 includes fights such as Joe Lauzon vs. Gray Maynard, Chael Sonnen vs. Forrest Griffin, and the main event of Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez.
