K-1 is back, Glory is coming on strong, Superkombat is making moves in the US… in short, it’s once again a fun time to be a kickboxing fan. That’s why I’m starting this column here at Bloody Elbow. Weekly Kicks will round up the latest news and results from the world of kickboxing, share some videos, and tell you what to look forward to. This week, upcoming fights for Glory plus more on Badr Hari. Let’s go.

Badr Hari Out Of K-1 Grand Prix

Last week, we reported that K-1 had announced a partial line-up for their 2012 Heavyweight Grand Prix. Included in that line-up was Badr Hari, which is odd as he is currently in the midst of some heavy legal troubles.

So it should come as no surprise that Hari has now been officially pulled from the event. His replacement will be Singh Heart Jaideep. The Indian fighter is a 2009 K-1 Grand Prix Final 16 participant, and holds a K-1 win over Sergei Kharitonov.

Next up for K-1 is their Los Angeles event, which will be available via live stream on Spike.com this Saturday, September 8. More details on that event later this week.

Glory Announces Fights For October 6

Glory’s next event will be Glory 2 Brussels on October 6. We’ve already heard about the big main event between Remy Bonjasky and Anderson “Braddock” Silva – now we have a more complete line-up. Take a look:

Glory 2 Brussels Fight Card
October 6, 2012

Remy Bonjasky vs. Anderson “Braddock” Silva
Gokhan Saki vs. Mourad Bouzidi
Nieky Holzken vs. Murat Direkci
Fabiano Aoki vs. Filip Verlinden
Murthel Groenhart vs. Marc de Bonte
Tony Gregory vs. Igor Jurkovic
Mark Miller vs. Koichi Pettas
Martin Jahn vs. Jonathan Diniz
Jamal Ben Sadik vs. Jahfarr Wilnis
Mohamed Kamal vs. Marat Grigorian
Ali Cenak vs. Danyo Ilunga
Andy Ristie vs. Nordim Bin Moh

Lots of interesting fighters here, but for me, the pick of the fights is Holzken vs. Direkci, which should be excellent. Good card all around. Click here for more details, including a promo video.

Giorgio Petrosyan vs. Buakaw?

Last week a number of rumors popped up surrounding a possible Muay Thai fight between pound for pound great Giorgio Petrosyan and Buakaw Por. Pramuk taking place at a Thai Fight show in 2013. For the past few years, this has been one of the most talked about possible fights in the 70kg division, as Petrosyan has ruled over the division, yet has not crossed paths with Buakaw since 2007 when they fought to a 5 round draw. Petrosyan is undefeated since that fight.

Sadly, it looks like much of this is just talk, as Petrosyan’s manager reports that they have not signed anything, or even been approached about a Buakaw fight. So for now, this remains kickboxing’s unrealized dream match.

Fight Video of the Week

Every week, I’ll bring you fight videos here. Generally, I’ll keep the focus on the latest fights, but there’s no new footage to include this week, so instead, here’s a look at newly announced 2012 K-1 Grand Prix participant Singh Jaideep taking on Strikeforce and Pride veteran Sergei Kharitonov under K-1 rules.
