The FX broadcast of the UFC 150 preliminary card kicks off in the bantamweight division. Dustin Pague (11-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC) of TUF 14 fame takes on newcomer Chico Camus (11-3 MMA, UFC debut). Neither one is ranked in the SB Nation MMA Consensus Rankings.

Pague has been a workhorse this year, and this will mark his 3rd fight in 2 months. Camus is a product of Roufusport, home of fellow UFC fighters Anthony Pettis and Alan Belcher. Coverage of this fight begins at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT live on FX, and leads up to the PPV broadcast at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT.

How do these two stack up?

Pague: 25 years old | 5’9″ | 74.5″ reach
Camus: 27 years old | 5’6″ | Unknown reach

What have these two done recently?

Pague: L – Ken Stone (SD) | W – Jared Papazian (SUB) | L – John Albert (TKO)
Camus: W – Alpetin Ozkilic (UD) | W – Dan Aguirre (UD) | W – Eugene Crisler (UD)

How did these two get here?

Pague debuted in professional MMA in 2008, losing via first round KO. His regional scene was exclusive to the Atlantic Seaboard, where he fought former WEC fighter Anthony Leone and UFC veteran Din Thomas (both losses). He rode a five-fight win streak afterwards all the way to the 14th season of The Ultimate Fighter. He won Fight of the Season with his submission of Louis Gaudinot, but his hopes of winning the show were dashed when TJ Dillashaw beat him in the semifinals. He lost to John Albert in the final in a quick KO in the season finale, but survived the chopping block. On June 8th of this year he submitted Jared Papazian and two weeks later took on Ken Stone as a last-minute replacement, losing by gutsy split decision.

Camus started out in amateur competition, winning all 3 of his fights before turning pro in 2009. He has fought mostly in the Midwest, primarily Wisconsin since Roufusport is based there. Perhaps his most notable opponent in regionals was ex-WEC featherweight Jameel Massouh, which Camus lost by decision. His last three fights have all been decision wins and now he’s ready to make his UFC debut and possibly be another exciting fighter coming out of Duke Roufus’ camp.

Why should you care?

I’m reaching here, but bantamweights generally bring excitement and the combination of Pague’s entertaining fights on TUF and the UFC and Camus being a young Roufusport fighter should get you interested, even though they’re both bottom-level BWs for the time being.
