UFC president Dana White had been targeting a particular fight from day one after he announced the UFC’s first foray into China (Macau, to be exact) – Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le. He wanted the bout to be the main event of the UFC on Fuel 6 show that is scheduled to go down on November 10th at Cotai Arena in the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel, but there was a major stumbling block – Le’s foot. Cung damaged his foot in a UFC 148 win over Patrick Cote, and it was unknown whether he’d be ready to go again by November.
Well, according to Dana White at last night’s UFC on Fox 4 media scrum, Le will be ready, and the fight will indeed happen.
Le (8-2) and Franklin (29-6, 1 NC) were originally scheduled to meet on the UFC 148 card last month, but Franklin was moved to the main event of UFC 147 after Vitor Belfort was injured. He won that catchweight bout over Wanderlei Silva by unanimous decision. This will be Franklin’s first middleweight bout in over four years.
